The Language School at the First Baptist Church of Christ at the top of Poplar Street in downtown Macon is in its 21st year of offering language classes to adults in the community. The school is staffed by volunteers with a heart for teaching those interested in learning a new language or improving the one they already speak.

We are a community of learners where speakers of other languages are celebrated for who they are. Together, we develop international friendships, learn about other cultures, benefit from field trip opportunities, and study and practice English, Spanish, or Japanese. Presently we have enrolled students from 13 different countries.

The classes are free and childcare is provided for 6-month old infants to young children of 4 years. There is a small book fee of $10.00.

English day classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00. English, Spanish, and Japanese are offered in the night program on Wednesday evenings. Japanese class is 5:00 until 6:00 p.m.; Spanish and English classes are taught from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m.
