During the summer of 2018, while many students were relaxing poolside or playing video games, members of the Rutland High School Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) represented their school and organization at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
During the conference, the following students won gold medals in Students Taking Action with Recognition events: Katlyn Yancey, in job interview; Katelyn Green and Monique Christian in sports nutrition; Zahira Trujillo in career investigation; and Alyssa Gammie, in food innovations.
According to their national website, FFCLA “is a career and technical student organization that functions as an integral part of the Family and Consumer Sciences education curriculum and operates within the school system, and it provides opportunities for active student participation at local, state, and national levels.”
