Macon Beer Company offers a brewery tour and beer tastings every Saturday afternoon and also every third Thursday of the month. This month that Thursday will fall on July 21, 2016. In August, it will be August 18.

The brewery is located at 345 Oglethorpe St., in a renovated building downtown. Guests are invited to park in the grassy area on 5th Street, and the main entrance can be found on Oglethorpe. According to the website, disabled access is available on the Oak Street side and those vehicles may park behind the wooden fence which has a gate available for such access.

The tastings offer a selection of the breweries artisan crafted beers, including their flagship pale ale, Macon Progress as well as their other flagship brews, special reserves and seasonal selections. Such tastings were made available to recent shifts in state law to allow breweries to make limited quantities of their beer available directly to the public.

The tour is casual and will start approximately once every hour or so. They will call for visitors when it is time.  The tour is $12 and includes 6 tasting tickets as well as a nice souvenir pint glass. I have a similar glass myself on my desk that I use for water at work.

Tickets can be found on their website. So come on out and enjoy some locally crafted beer and see first hand where it is made, right here in Macon.
